European Summer programmes in NZ high schools

Some of the High Schools in New Zealand offer Northern hemisphere summer programmes including Homestay and often with extra activities. The Northern hemispheres summer of course means winter in new Zealand. However, the New Zealand winter, especially on the North Island is quite mild.

Homestay is accommodation with a selected, and by the New Zealand government checked, host family. During weekdays 2 meals, and in the weekend 3 meals are included.

Otaki College (Otaki)
Outdoor education summer programme in July and August

School fee, Homestay and Medical Insurance for 7 weeks: 2,420 €*

Extra activities: Students will take part in particular outdoor activities, overnight camps or expeditions. Theory is combined with the practical, like risk management, map and compass reading. Be part of one of the 5 day class trips (at no extra cost)

Corelli Academic School of the Arts (Browns Bay, Auckland)
July - August programme with Dance, Drama, or Music

School fee, Homestay and Medical Insurance for 7 weeks: 2,525 €*

Extra activities: One-to-one extra Drama or Dance classes included in the price. The school has its own theatre, the Jonmer Theatre. This is a unique theatre space. It is a full tech environment and is ready to go!

Gisborne Boys' High School (Gisborne)
July - August programme with golf.

School fee, Homestay and Medical Insurance for 7 weeks: 2,560 €*
School fee, Boarding and Medical Insurance for 7 weeks: 2,750 €*

The student can become a member of the local Golf Club (fee 80 NZ$ for under 17) and get lessons from a Golf Pro (40 NZ$ per half hour). There are many eminent golf courses on the east coast of New Zealand.

Special Summer Programme with extra activities

Extra activities at extra cost (allow 650 euro): School Senior Bal (Prom); Trip to Wellington; Beach Trip; Visit to nearby regions; Hobbit Tour (Lord of the Rings); Rotorua trip; Horse Riding; Ski trip; Football; Hiking in NZ Bush (Gorge Walk)..

Cambridge High School (Cambridge)
Summer Holiday (July – Aug) programme with lots of extra’s

School fee, Uniform, Homestay and Medical Insurance for 7 weeks: 3,084 €*

Choice of 33 sports (e.g. Adventure Racing, Cheerleading, Equestrian, Lacrosse, Motocross, Shooting, and Yachting). Music groups include a concert band, choirs, jazz band and rock groups (free tuition in a range of instruments), Drama and Dance activities, Theatre sports, Shakespearean competitions.

There are four terms per year, divided into 10 weeks each. The school year starts in February and there are two weeks of holidays in April, June and September, with the summer holidays in December and January.
